The only good beach by the amathus is about a mile down the road, the4 others are in Coral Bay. All the hotels back onto the sea but they are nearly all rocky

The beach around either of these hotels is not that good. The Amathus has a small area which they clear in the summer and you can paddle along the edge but it is quite rocky. You can sunbathe on the grass area overlooking the sea. As Kev says there is a beach down the road which is between the two hotels you mention which is more of a public beach (all beaches are public but the ones in front of the hotels tend to be mainly used by guests).

We usually go to the Four Seasons in Limassol as not only is the hotel good but it is on a nice stretch of beach (albeit black sand). The water is clear and you can walk out for a long way before you are out of your depth. There is also a nice beach path which goes for miles in both directions. It also has a great pool.

Paphos is not really known for its beaches. The Amathus pool is great. The Annabelle is closer to the harbour. We like the Amathus but not really for its beach.

Hi Kev

What are some of the best beaches near Paphos that can be driven to?

Kind regards

Hi Ian

On the south side of the harbour you have the triangle area and the main Hotel strip where the Amathus is located.I have put a link to give you some idea of location

The Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel (No 87) just past there is a nice beach ideal for toddlers as it has rock breakers.in the sea to keep it shallow. There is another small beach and will get crowded just across from the Aloe Hotel (74) that's it for the exception of the Kefalos Beach Hotel 147 (not sure if that is pebbly) and a few others hotels going towards Coral bay which have a small cove of beach area.

The next hotel that has another small beach is at the rear of the Atlantica Beach hotel (59) about 14 km from Paphos going to Coral bay. Then there are 3 big cove beaches in Coral Bay and these are the best. These are in-between Horizon Hotel (60) and the Thalassa Hotel (67)

As Twigs has mentioned Paphos was never endowed with any form of beaches as it was and probably still associated as a old retiree part of the island.and also it was a barron land made up of rocks

Hi,The Kefalos hasn't got a beach as such but you do get sun beds on some sand and so are near the water but you can't even paddle as it is so rocky but you can swim as they have provided steps into the sea from a little jetty, but when we were staying there last year we walked along the footpath to the Elysium Hotel next door(about a 5 minute walk) and went for a swim there as there is a small beach(black sand though), but it was a nice thing to do in the afternoon, as the walk is really nice. The beach neat the Alexander the Great Hotel(opposite the Aloe) is quite a nice beach and so are the ones at Coral bay although we tend to stay on the bus to the terminus and go to Corlialia beach which is lovely and has good facilities and doesn't get as busy as the main Coral beach.
