Robbed near Royal Seacrest Apts

Please be aware if you stay in these apts that access to the main road and all pubs/restaurants etc is across an unlit field with a well worn path. Use this path at your peril as we got mugged there, handbag with money, phone and apt key all gone in a flash! very scary experience. We have since found out that this has happened to numerous guests staying at this complex. We will not be going back to Paphos again.

Thank you for posting the warning. How awful for you! Hope you've recovered from your ordeal.

It's strange that there's been absolutely nothing in the local media about this, especially as you say it has happened to many people in that area.

As you say, Alan, it is very, very rare. That's why I was surprised that it hasn't been reported anywhere else.

Obviously this will be a concern to other Timeshare owners at that complex.

Don't expect Lion Resorts to be any help, they do not respond to members complaints let alone anyone else and are withdrawing from the Seacrest at the end of the 2011 season anyway. Lion were only at the Seacrest because they could not find anywhere else to house members after defaulting on the Capital Coast and the Amphora. On their own admission the Seacrest was not up to standard. We stayed there in August and my wife did not like crossing the wasteland in the dark so we had to get a taxi everywhere. Everybody was complaining but there was nothing that could be done as it is the only access other than a long walk round to the road entrance at the back. The apartments are privately owned so it is unlikely that the problem will be solved.

The Seacrest is not run by Lion Resorts, they only have a few tempory apartments there, it is we believe run by an owners commitee.

Hi, did you contact the local police, maybe that is why there is nothing in the local media. Julie

Since crime rates a low here, cases are usually resolved quite quickly.

Had there been a spate of muggings - the Op claims 'this has happened to numerous guests' - the local police would have been involved and it certainly would have been deemed newsworthy.

You're right, Julie, the media get some of their news directly from the police - it's one way of tackling crime here since we're not a major metropolis!
