Help- Monte Carlo- First time

We will be spending a day in Monte Carlo. Our hotel is in Nice. It is our first time. I do not want to miss anything. Is it better to go towards the evening because of the casino? We arent real gamblers, but would find it enjoyable to visit. What is the latest to go back to get the train? Or should we go in the day?

Thank-you so much!

There's plenty to do in Monaco if you're spending the day there.

The old town has the palace, cathedral, Oceanographic museum, loads of cafes and restaurants, parklands, stunning views .....

The harbour is a great place to people watch and, of course, the yachts are stunning.

Up around the casino are the expensive shops and the cars parked around the casino are incredible.

There are many inexpensive places to eat and it's not as expensive as many people believe.

If you're visiting the casino you will need your passports and observe the dress code.

We always drive into Monaco so I can't help on public transport. Hopefully someone else can.

Zebfrance,

Thank-you. What are the dress codes for the casino?

Thanks again!

Here's a link to information about the casino including dress code casinomontecarlo.com/en/…bon_a_savoir.asp

A fun thing to do is sit in one the front tables at the Cafe de Paris, order a drink and people watch as long as you want.

Public transport is easy to Monaco from Nice and the vies are lovely along the way and return tickets cost about 6 euros.

Dress code for Casino is smart but they will let you into the main reception hall (featured in one of the bond films) and the slot machines room by the front door in jeans and trainers.

The Cafe De Paris is opposite and if not doing dinner there do at least stop for a drink and 'people watch'.

The old town is good to visit with the Palace and Cathedral up there and great views over Monaco.

If the Grand Prix interests you you should visit La Rascasse bar which lends it's name to a corner on the circuit.

It's a very beautiful place to spend a day.
