The Azur Express Tourist Train

How do we get from the Casino/Cafe de Paris in Monte Carlo to catch the Azur Express Tourist Train that departs from the Oceanographic Institute in Monaco Ville up on the Rock, please? What is the easiest way - is there a bus service, or should get a taxi to the Oceanographic Institute?

You can take the local Monaco bus. Here's a link to their website with the route info: http://www.cam.mc/cam_fr.htm

You can take the red or blue line to Monaco Ville As I recall, when you get off the bus you will walk southward down a pedestrian street to the Oceanograhphic Institue. The little train is fun but very touristy.

Allow time to explore Monaco Ville. Near the Palace there are great views over Monte Carlo.

You can buy an all day pass for the local buses.

Bus routes 1 and 2 go to Monaco Ville. The closest stop to the Casino is outside the Hermitage Hotel. From the Casino, walk uphill with the Casino at your back, and with the Hotel de Paris on your left. Take the first street on your left. The bus stop is pretty much opposite the end of this street as it comes onto the main road.

A pleasant alternative would be to take the public elevator from near the Casino down to the port, walk a little way and catch the boat bus across the harbour, then walk around the base of the rock and take the public elevators up to the Oceanographic Museum. It's a pleasant walk and the boat across the harbour gives you a good view of the yachts.
