Ski Resort Choice?

Hi, I'm travelling to Switzerland/Austria/Italy in Feb, intending to arrive in Austria from Zurich and to a ski resort - at this stage I'm thinking of one of St Anton, St Johan, Seefeld or Kitzbuhel.

I'd appreciate any advice on my choices (or others), based on ease of travel coming from Zurich, and going afterwards into Italy.

thanks

Andrew

St. Anton seems a logical choie - It is on the main rail line from Zurich to Innsbruck- frequent and easy connections -

Normally fine skiing at all levels of difficulty but best for better skiers- fine nighlife and great selection of accomodations.

Kitz can suffer from a lack of good snow - seems a little out of your way off main line connections.

Seefeld is just north of Innsbruck- easy local train ride - fine small village - moderate skiing - much less expert terrain but enough intermediate especially Rosshutte and environs for most-

excelent amenities from ice skating . mountain walks. cross country skiing , casino - nice village center

good choice of accomodations-

2 St. Johanns in Austria for possible winter things

Tirol and Pongau-- not the best choices in my opinion.

thanks for your comments and ideas.

I'd been thinking about St Anton ahead of the others simply because of the rail line, but I should've mentioned that my girlfriend and I aren't skiers at all - although we'd love to spend a few days with some basic skiing and/or snowboarding lessons.

What we're looking for is a town/village with a nice pretty centre to walk around, coffee shops and restaurants, beautiful mountain scenery, somewhere to sit and watch the skiers go by even if we don't try it ourselves, and other activities like an ice-rink, indoor pool etc.

Based on what you've said, Seefeld might be perfect for us too!

I'll have to give this one some more thought.

thanks again, and any other advice would be welcome.

If not skiers - Seefeld. compact with all things walkable - nice village center with cafes , fine scenery - sleigh rides in the forest - chance to see and feed deer- nice range of hotels with good amenities make a good choice.

Your train from Switzerland reaches the main Innsbruck train station- from there easy connection to Seefeld-train schedules

even a taxi transfer if no good train
