I am striking out! I am in Amsterdam and need to get to Zurich eventually. Originally thought about Turkey (Istanbul), but that's out. So I booked a flight to Budapest (via Warsaw overnight). The plan was to go to Budapest - Vienna - Salzburg - Zurich. I have hotels booked using points in Vienna. I thought about heading to Bratislava for a day trip and also to Melk Abbey.
I should be in Vienna by Sunday. Given the flooding problems I am thinking of cancelling Salzburg (I was so looking forward to that ride through the Alps to Zurich) and instead heading down to Slovenia and then back up to Zurich.
I was also thinking of shortening Vienna by a day since I read that Melk has flooding problems.
I can't imagine things exponentially improving by Sunday/Monday along the Danube. Am I wrong? Or would it be better to go with my plan B (shorten Vienna and head to Slovenia)?
Any problems getting to Bratislava right now (via train, since I'm assuming the hydrofoils may be a problem)? Or between Budapest & Vienna?
