Flight question

On the return trip from Salzburg to Newark we only have 55 min in Vienna to switch planes. Do you think its too tight and do we risk missing our connection?

I don't know what Vienna airport is like, but if you have a through ticket, you can be assured that the connection is ok. the airline has a responsibility to you, to ensure that you get the flight.

55 minutes not a long time for this connection- it seems Austrian doing more and more of this short transfer.

Hopefully you will get your onward flight boarding card in Salzburg upon check in.

But in Vienna you will need to go through passport control and most probably another heavy security control.

In addition - Salzburg is known to have some fog in early morning that can delay things somewhat,

These aircraft used for this transfer from Salzburg are normally of a small variety- in Vienna- most often these do not park immediately at a gate with jet way but in remote parking.

Passengers deplane and then are bussed to the terminal,of course time is involved.

While you have a ticket any delay most probably means an interim transfer to a larger airport like Munich Frankfurt etc. All costing you stress etc.

You may find some Austrian staff less than extra concerned or helpful

Austrian has lost considerable millions of euros for years.

They now have been absorbed into Lufthansa. Lufthansa management has terminated many people, sold aircraft, consolidated routes but losses continue

Staff morale not great and it shows at times.

Good Luck- I hope it works
