Kitzbuhel vs zell am see

We are a family who want to visit austrian alps in end may. I am very confused and can't decide wheather to stay in kitzbuhel or zell am see area.

We don't know how to ski

Our idea of a holiday is to be high up in the mountains see beautiful scenery and visit Salzburg Hallstatt and the surrounding area

We are spending 3 nights in seefeld and looking to spend 4 nights in zell am see, kaprun or kitzbuhel.

I just can't decide

Please help

Skiing season will be over in May. If you stay in Seefeld I would go to Kaprun or Zell am See. You have the lake, Kaprun glacier, Krimml waterfalls, Grossglockner high alpine road and Tauern spa to visit.

yes. if you like lakes, then zell is the obvious choice. but have you considered the beautiful salzkammergut area?

Are you looking to visit Hallstatt and Salzburg from your base in either Zell am See or Kitzbuehl? If so, and they are both a priority, think about staying in either the Berchtesgaden area or the Salzkammergut instead of either of the two you are looking at. Salzburg is roughly 1 hour to 1:30 away by car from Zell am See.

How are you getting around, by rental car or public transportation?
