The Eagles Nest & Königssee day trip, is it possible?!

Hi all,

Visiting Munich/Salzburg/St Wolfgang in June 2014 and really want a day trip to the Eagles Nest and Königssee in a day from one of the locations listed above, is it realistic to do both in a day? If so, how can one do it?

I will be relying on public transport only.

Many thanks,

George

Many thanks for your reply, this question is specific to doing The Eagles Nest and Königssee together, something which was not addressed in the previous thread.

You should be able to do both in a day from Salzburg.

St Wolfgang is going to add 3 hours to the travelling. So maybe not doable in a day.

Any reason for St Wolfgang? It does not make a good base if you are using public transport. (Wrong side of the lake) St Gilgen would be better.

We have booked St Wofgang as it looks like a beautiful area abd was recommended by my parents. I guess we will have to do it from Munich! :)

From Munich would be a good idea.

St Wolfgang and area is beautiful. Just takes longer to get to places on public transport.

You can go to St Gilgen or Strobl via boat which is a really nice way to see the scenery.

Or bus to Strobl or Bad Ischl.

You have the cog railway up the Schafberg on your doorstep so you can watch the weather and get up there early before it gets busy.

Already planned the cog railway and the trip across the river. So excited to see it's beauty! Just being greedy and trying to fit in the Eagles Nest and Konigssee as well!!

It is possible to do Eagles nest and the lake Konigsee in a day .

a bus takes you from Salzburg by train station ( bus 840 ) direct to Berchtesgaden - at the train station direct bus go to respective destinations.

I suggest that you check the websites for these attractions - they offer directions, hours etc.

also many threads here with discussions that may assist.
