Whats the best lake nearby Salzburg to swim in?

We're visiting Salzburg for a day whilst staying in Munich because we want to explore mountains and lakes. Just wondered where would be a good place to go for a swim in a lake and go for a nice walk along the mountains. Is it easy to get to these areas by public transports?

the cleanest lake near salzburg is probably fuschlsee. this has a small beach and a large bathing omplex in the village of fuschl. take the hourly 150 bus to fuschl....about 35 mins.

or go on to st gilgen, 10 mins further on, and swim in the wolfgangsee.

you can then take the gondola to the top of the zwolferhorn where there is a 1 hr panorama walk, with fantastic views.

Day trip to Salzburg and visit lakes? Will you be driving or using public transport?

If you are visiting Salzburg just for the day then visiting a lake for a swim is not really possible unless you skip seeing Salzburg. The journey from Munich to Salzburg by train is almost 2 hours and by car 1 and half.

We would be getting a really early train in at around 7ish to arrive 9/10 time and then we would get the last train back at 23:00. Do you think we'd need more time? We would only be using public transport to get around.

We want to go the area to see some different scenery so we want to go up some mountains and have nice walks. Could we at least fit in some decent mountain views? Probably spend some more time in Salzburg in the late afternoon and evening. I imagine we wont spend that much time in the city to be honest!

How about taking bus No. 25 to the Untersberg mountain and then take the cable car to the top. Fantastic views if the day is clear. The journey from Salzburg would be about 25 mins.
