I am aware of repetitive posts to this but I have an issue with finalizing the itinerary with the myriad options available. I would need your valuable advice here.
A bit of background:
We are a family of 5 (my parents, wife and sister) travelling from Dubai to Vienna on 28th July. Will be in Vienna for 2 days and then stay 3 days in Salzburg (will return to Vienna to fly back to Dubai on 2nd August noon).
We shall board the Westbahn train to Salzburg on 30th July and should reach around noon time. 30th will be spent roaming around Salzburg Town.
31st July and 1st August - we have time for a day trip (or two).
We absolutely enjoy nature, scenic breathtaking views (lakes, mountains etc), No museums and art stuff!
Caveat : - We can't hike because I have a ligament tear, also excess walking will be slightly hindered.
Based on this, I was planning to visit Hallstat for one day (31st maybe).
Also want to do another scenic day trip (1st Aug maybe) - a) St Wolfgang - Schafberg OR b) Zwölferhorn OR c) Gosausee OR d) any of the gorges (please advice any other as well)
We are relying on public transport but if you suggest a car should be hired to do the day trips, I can do that on 31st morning from Salzburg town and drive to Hallstat and the other scenic recommendation.
Also please let me know for my return to Vienna on 2nd morning, if I should drive from Salzburg to Vienna for its views or just take the Westbahn train?
Thank you very much in advance
