Suggestions for day trips on rainy days

Hi,

We are arriving in Innsbruck on 21st of this month, and will stay there for 4 days. Our final day-wise itinerary includes a lot of mountain top visits (Stubai Glacier etc,). The twist in the tale is that as of now, the weather forecast for that period is of a lot of rainy days. So the question is: What are the day trips that we can make from Innsbruck on such rainy days, since going to mountain peaks on cloudy and rainy days is obviously a waste. We are in the region for the nature, not much into museums etc. Also, don't mind long train/bus journeys as long as both the journey and the destination are scenic, and the journey is not extremely expensive :-)

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

For rainy day activities outside Innsbruck you could consider visitng a cave.

There is an ice cave at the Hintertuxer Glacier for example: tux.at/en/…natur-eis-palast.html

In the area of Hintertux there is also the Spannagel cave, which would be worth a visit: tux.at/en/…spannagelhoehle.html

For getting to Hintertux you would drive through the whole Ziller Valley, which would definitely be a scenic ride.

Amother alternative for a relaxed day might be visiting the thermal spa Aqua Dome in Längenfeld: http://www.aqua-dome.at/en. Also on the way to Längenfeld you should see some nice scenery.

Hope the weather will end up not being too bad and you will be able to get up some peaks as well! :-)

Cheers, Christina
