Any Ideas for a week in August

We are staying in Igls in August. We hope to do some walking and sightseeing. Has anyone any suggestions for walking and other things to see and do. We will be using public transport.

We have never been here before.

Thanks

Directly in Igls you can walk to the Patscherkofel and also the Patscherkofelbahn-

numerous good hiking possibilities -

Mountain huts to cure hunger and thirst .

Great views of the valley and Innsbruck below.

this available in english and offers numerous ideas for hiking including trips , sights and times too.

other sightseeing

Alpen Zoo

Schloss Ambras

the old town in Innsbruck -

a short train ride away is Seefeld - perfect for mountain walks and a nice town too.

For places to see I might include Mittenwald, Germany (near Seefeld) and possibly Sterzing/Vipiteno and Brixen/Bressanone, just over the border in Italy.

Hope this is not too late for you. We stayed a week in Igls and walked as described in the previous posts. We also walked a few times to a swimming lake - maybe 10-15 mins walk down pedestrian paths. This was great on hot days after spending most of the day walking in the mountains. Another thing we enjoyed was getting the tram down to Innsbruck. The scenery on the way was delightful. We had a really great week.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. All the answers I have received sound really nice. We are going mid August. The walk to the lake sounds really good too. Thank you.

A really good deal is the Innsbruck Card (innsbruck.info/xxl/…index.html) which includes many of the city's sights but also a return trip on the Patscherkofelbahn (cable car) in Igls. There are two other lifts reachable with the included IVB public transport on the card. It's really tremendous value for the enjoyment you'd get out of it, especially if you consider the individual costs of a return journey on the cable cars!
