Vienna on Christmas Day

I'm planning a trip to Vienna over Christmas, and I wondered if anybody could advise if things like shops and restaurants are open during that period from 25th to 26th December?

Thanks in advance!!

December 25 and 26 are national holidays and therefore shops are closed. Restaurants are open but less than normal.

Many shops will begin to close early in the afternoon of the 24th.

The celebration of Christmas is here on the evening of the 24th - Christmas Eve. many family fests and all want to be home early for this.

The Vienna tourist Office usually issues a lists of restaurants open on the 24th and 25th to assist visitors. This normally found on their site in early December

Good to reserve for the 24th- 25th more restaurants open so usually no problems.

Shops closed 25th and 26th. Some tourist shops selling souvenirs etc will be open.

Major tourists attractions may close early on the 24th but are open on the 25th.

Fine Arts Museum , Schonbrunn . Treasury etc.

The Christmas Market at Schonbrunn is open on the 25th and 26th . Most others closed from the 24th.

Of course ATM / Bankomat machines are usually working . Banks closed 25and 26

So enough to keep you busy .
