We have gone from Aschach an der Donau to Vienna. Rented bikes from Pedalpower in Vienna and took them on the train to Linz, then cycled up to Aschach then came back down. It is a fantastic ride. We brought our panniers and bar bags from the US, hooked them up on the bikes and were ready to go. Get the Cycleline map from Rick at Pedalpower (email him and he will send it to you) I am not sure what the cost is right now, but it is the absolute best map for this trip...water resistant wire bound booklet map that gives you ideas and info on everything along the way plus where to stay.

Check out our trip from 2001:

Hi !

We are doing this trail in August this year. We are booking our bikes with Radurlaub.com. You can get a lot of info from their website.

Of course, Radurlaub is a tour company that takes your bags etc.

We preferred to do our own exploring while carrying all of our gear in our panniers. We felt is gave us much more freedom to do whatever we wanted and stay wherever we wanted.
