Bicycling around Vienna

Hi there,

We will be on a bike and boat tour along the Danube with a full day in Vienna. We may embrace the opportunity to get off our bikes for a day, but on the other hand, seeing a city by bicycle--if there are good routes--is a lot of fun and very efficient. Where can I get information about biking routes within the city of Vienna? Would you experts recommend it? Bikable city or too much traffic? Thanks--S

The Inner City is really busy with cars, pedestrians (especially larger tourist groups blocking the whole byciling path) etc. I would skip it and walk through the Inner City.

Have a look here

wien.gv.at/english/…index.html

Please note that for Austria your bicycle must be equipped according to the rules.

2 sets of brakes

1 bell

working lights front and back,

red cat eye for the back

reflectors in the pedals

2 reflectors in each wheel or the inside of the wheel with a reflecting colour.

Children must wear a helmet

alcohol limit below 0,08

etc etc
