Prater on Easter Monday

Hi folks.

I read this right at the bottom of the Prater Website:

Opening hours: Tue-Thu 10-13, Fri-Sun and on holidays 2:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m.

Closed: January 1, May 1, December 25, as well as on Easter Monday, Whit Monday and other bank holidays that fall on a Monday

Does this mean that Prater is closed on Easter Monday? Or is this just a historical description?

I ask because I am planning a trip during the Easter period.

The Prater is always accessible and not fenced off. Easter 2014 being end of April everything should be open which is closed during cold winter time.

No idea where you found the closings.

Impractical for a park depending on visitors for income to be closed on holidays-

Look to this website available in English

it will list opening hours.

Individual rides will have often slightly different opening hours but in general 10 AM - 1 AM for many things.

no admission fee to the park - you just pay for the individual rides and food and drink.

Hi Salzburger and Vertical.

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, I thought that would probably be the case, since even local parents might want to bring their children for an outing on a public holiday, perhaps after going to church.

In answer to your query about where I got the info, Vertical, I have now worked out my mistake. I went on the website: http://www.praterservice.at/en

I clicked on the tab "Service" but I think I must have been misdirected to History, which is where I read that historical hours (mis) information.

Thanks, guys!
