Is this itinerary doable?

Hello, I will be spending 2 days in Vienna in august. Is this doable?

Day 1

- St-Stephens cathedral

- St-Peters church

- Hoher Markt Clock

- Belvedere palace gardens (no entry)

- Historic center of Vienna

- Classical show in the evening

Day 2

- Schonbrunn castle

- Hofburg castle

- St-Charles church

Having done all those things except classical evening shows I'd plan to do a castle a day. Schonbrunn needs a good 5 hours in my opinion and that was moving all the time. The churches you can move through quicker. If you can, be at the Hoher Markt Clock at noon to see all the characters. Some nice cafes there too

Schonbrunn and Hoffburg are palaces, not castles. That being said they are wonderful to visit at least once.

Do you plan to enter both Schönbrunn Palace and the Hofburg? Then I would visit these two attractions on seperate days (otherwise you will spend a lot of time indoors - which might be an option if the weather is bad).

I agree that visiting Schönbrunn Palace and gardens will take half a day. I would add the Hofburg to day one, when you explore the center.

Don't forget to allow time to explore the Ringstrasse - the circular boulevard surrounding the center, where you can also admire the parliament, Rathaus, Burgtheater, University and Votiv Church.

Best regards, Christina

I'd even go so far as to say don't visit both the Hofburg and Schönbrunn as the Hofburg isn't as spectacular, just a bit more of the same. Instead maybe add one of Vienna's fabulous museums.

Norman C has a very good suggestion in my view.

I would consider swapping Hapsburg Palace for a visit to Kunsthistorisches, which is a remarkable fine art museum (see link).

Hope you are enjoying your trip planning and have a nice time in Vienna.
