We are thinking of either taking the ferry from Tromso to Svolvaer
or driving from Tromso to Svolvaer.
We intend to rent a vehicle and stay a few days in Tromso. Then go to Svolvaer, stay a few days there. Next we will take the ferry from Svolvaer to Bergen.
If we drive, will we not get to see the nicest views of the Lofoten Islands?
If we ferry from Tromso to Svolvaer, we intend to drive to see the sights near Svolvaer.
The ferry leaves Tromso in the middle of the night. We are thinking that getting on the ferry at that time might be inconvenient and exhausting. Not that we won't do that to see excellent views, if they are not available any other way.
We know it is a 6 hr+ drive from Tromso to Svolvaer. We enjoy long drives, if there are interesting things to see along the way.
We love to view lovely scenery, take lots of photos and take scenic walks (we are not real hikers).
So, if we are making this decision to see the prettiest sights (and cost is not a deciding factor- they both cost a lot - hey, it's Norway, we know it's expensive), which is better ferry or drive?
Also, if we drive is the road next to the coast or the inland road more scenic?
Thanks, in advance for any advice or info.
