Norway to Italy? OR Italy to Norway

We are planning a 14+ day trip to the countries of our ancestors. We want to see Italy, Norway and Denmark. Any ideas on the cheapest route? Start in Norway or in Italy? We will be traveling from California. What are the must sees in Norway, Denmark, and Italy?

Your question is too wide, impossible to answer without more information.

It is not possible to "see" Italy, Denmark and Norway in 14 days. Especially Italy is a country of many regions and a lot of culture and history, 14 days would not be sufficient for that country alone. Two weeks would be sufficient for a nice trip to Norway and Denmark.

Advice on which order depends totally on which time of the year you are planning for. Possibly you have an idea about which regions in these three countries your ancestors came from?

I would suggest you read some tourist information sites and some guide books to form an opinion about where you want to go. A lot of information about Norway on the official tourist web site: www.visitnorway.com .A must-see in Norway are the fjords on the west coast. In Denmark the city of Copenhagen is the most important place to visit. Must-see's in Italy are too numerous to list.

Low-cost flights are generally the cheapest way to travel from one country to another. Between Norway and Denmark the overnight ferry Oslo-Copenhagen (or v.v.) is a comfortable way to travel.

Fly into Copenhagen for a night and then fly to Bergen, for enjoy the Fjords of Norway in 3-4 days.

Then take the train to Oslo incl NiN, and fly to Pisa, Italy with http://Norwegian.com for enjoy rest of your days in Provence...

You need a half life for explore all in Norway, and a whole life for see all in Italy...

Provence is in France. GG was possibly thinking of Tuscany, a delightful region: www.discovertuscany.com/

If you want to visit the home town of your ancestors, a car is often useful and time needed to travel to various corners of the country.
