Note that none of these lodgings are very near the train line. The nearest train station is at Mørkved, about 25 km from Saltstraumen. I think it would be easiest going all the way to Bodø, then backtracking by bus from there. There's a route planner at http://www.177nordland.com/

hi.

there are several possibilities for accomodation in Saltstraumen. The hotel has in addition to hotelrooms also cabins for rent. there is a camping/diving camp (Pluscamp), an old guesthouse (Skagen Gaard), a fishing camp (saltstraumen Brygge) and tuvsjyen where you can rent appartments. Take a look at www.destinasjon-saltstraumen.com or www.visitbodo.com for more informastion about the area. Welcome!

Hi Zoe

If you arrive Bodø by train - take the train all the way to Bodø.

The train station at Mørkved is in the middle of nowhere - most used for visitors to the University.

I just want to give you a link to a webpage where you could read a brochure online about Northern Norway.

www.nordnorge.com/no/last-ned-brosjyrer

In Spanish also.

If you click on "Gå til Skjema" then you could order a brochure free of charge.

Important: If you click on another language on this webpage, you will be transferred to another site.

An article (on Norwegian) with some pictures from Saltstraumen.

One of the places in Saltstraumen you will have to visit is Kjelen Kafe. The menu is based on what you could catch in Saltstraumen.

They also have 2 webcams:

Take a look at this cam before you go to sleep and be amazed about how bright it is during the midnight sun period. (is updated once a minute and you will have to refresh the picture by yourselves).
