Northern Lights New Year

Hi,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times: My husband has always wanted to visit Tromso and also see the Northern Lights. I want to surprise him by booking a trip for winter 2014 but I'm at a loss as to which is a good holiday company to book through. Can anyone advise, I've now read so much that I am now very confused. Any recommendations. Thanks so much, Katrina

Why not travel independently and book your flights and accommodation yourself? Most people contributing to the TA Norway forum arrange their own travels. There are lots of useful info if you read through some pages on the Tromso forum.

I know that's a good idea and normally I would do that but for just a few days I hoped for a recommendation.

I will still take your advice as there is a lot of time to plan this.

thank you for taking the time to write back to me.

Fly Norwegian from Gatwick to Tromsø https://www.norwegian.com/uk/

Then http://www.visittromso.no/en/ is the place to start with.

The DE on the forum are Norwegians, we do not have much experience with British tour operatiors. There is a list on the UK version of Visit Norway - bottom of the page in rather small print.

But, if you still want to let a tour operator do all work for you, then I can recommend this in UK; Taber Holidays, Inntravel, Wexas, Discover the World, Simply Sweden, and Nordic Visitors, who are based on Iceland, but arrange tours to Norway too, for world wide clients..;)

Its actually very easy to organise yourself.

We flew out of Gatwick with Norwegian and home with SAS. I booked everything independently and had good fun doing so. My flights were very reasonably priced.

I found a trip report by Supratik extremely helpful and I pretty much copied his itinerary. I never looked into package deals, so cannot offer any recommendation.

Best of luck Katrina.
