Fastest way from hotel & amount of time for 9:30am flight

Our flight to Frankfurt leaves at 9:25am on a weekday. We will be staying at The Hotel Bristol at Kristian IVs Gate 7. If we decided to take the airport train, we would need to take a train to the Central Station in time to catch the appropriate train.

Unless you think otherwise, it seems to be the most convenient and fastest (in total time) to take a taxi to the airport---while normally I would take the train, we are at the end of a tiring vacation.

What time should I order the taxi for?

TIA

Simply ask at your hotel, they will also order a taxi for you. Expect to pay around NOK 1000 for the ride.

The airport express bus stops a couple of minutes walk from your hotel:

I just did a dummy search, and it shows schedules at the time you are looking for.

Thanks, that was fast (and even more expensive than I had read!).

One more question, if I may. Because airports vary so much, about how much time does it normally take to get through security, immigration, etc. at that time in the morning?

Thanks

Both Norway and Germany are members of the Schengen treaty, there is no immigration control.

The mornings are always busy at the airport with lines for security control, but they usually move fast. Check in on-line or use a self-service check-in machine at the airport. Being at the airport 1h before departure is sufficient for European flights.

You didn't mention exactly when - if in July then there is reduced traffic due to holidays, otherwise you might have to allow for a delay in rush hour with bus - though shouldn't be much on way out of the city. Not only do airports vary much, but individual airports vary - 90% of the time you are straight through Gardermoen in a few minutes - but then comes the day when the computers crash at check in, half the security people are off sick etc, etc. You should allow the time quoted by the airline.

Thanks, iverh and dyoll--sorry, I should have said that we're flying out next week.

I guess that navigating Frankfurt (we are headed for the US, and coming into Stavanger through Frankfurt took forever!) is not going to be fun, again.

I just wanted to thank you for your help in getting to the airport. The bus stop was less than a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel, and the hotel also gave us a 20% off voucher. We had decided to play it safe, and took the 7:01 bus, which got us to Gardermoen before 8, and, even though it was very confusing when we first walked in, a helpful official guided us, and we were at my wife’s gate by 8:30. (Given Norway prices, we were not tempted by the duty-free store, which is usually where we spend a small fortune on chocolate!)

Thanks, again, for your help. It was a painless way to end our trip from what turned out to be our favorite city in Norway.
