1 day in Oslo in july

Hi,

My girlfriend and I are staying for 1 day in Oslo, then going to Bergen by train. Any pointers? Which are the "must see" places? I am of course checking out Helvete heh. We could maybe add 1 day to Oslo...

Then, on getting to Bergen by train, I found this one on the Internet:

https://www.nsb.no/en/bestill/velg-togavgang…

(sorry for the looong link)

Do we need to book this one in advance? From what I read, I gather that if we want the minipris, then we must, else not. Do you know of any other nightrains to bergen from oslo?

Thank you!

Top of the Oslo forum there is a tab called things to do

tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g190479-Activiti…

You should also check the official tourist office web site - it is excellent and well laid out and you can choose top 10 according to your interests.

http://www.visitoslo.com/

google visit Oslo and points of interests will appear in your search.

There are night trains from Bergen to Oslo every evening except Saturdays. Use the nsb site you already found.

Yes you need to book - you can do that 90 days in advance - includes a reserved seat. And look at the difference in price between minipris and standard price - it's whopping! In July you can expect the limited number of minipris tickets to be snapped up quickly so don't wait to the last minute!

The sleeper compartment is recommended - you pay per compartment NOK 850 in addition to ticket (yes, even with minipris) and two can use the same compartment.

Hey, back again =)

After Oslo, we're going to Bergen and then to Denmark. Is the Bergen-Hirtshals-Aarhus ferry route worth it? It takes like 20 hours, and given out limited time, we're considering going by plane instead.

It's a sea crossing - you see the sea. Otherwise it's a time/cost/convenience equation. You save an hotel night and a day spent mostly around airports. More relaxing, especially if the weather is good.
