Cruise Ship visit

We will be in Oslo for a day in early July on a cruise ship. Does anyone have any idea whether there will be local transport at the Port that we can negotiate with to take us to see the main tourist attractions or would we need to book a tour through the ship? These can be very expensive. There will be 5 in our group. Any information would be much appreciated.

There may be regular taxis, but no private car service offering tours for a fixed price. If you want a private, guided tour, contact one of the guide agencies (some time in advance): http://www.guideservice.no/en/ http://www.osloguide.no/html/english.html

Other sightseeing options are:

- Buy a 24h Oslo Pass or 24h travel pass for public transport, explore on your own using Oslo's excellent public transport system: visitoslo.com/en/… https:/…

- Join a scheduled, guided sightseeing tour by coach: visitoslo.com/en/…

- and/or a sightseeing tour by boat: visitoslo.com/en/…

Oslo is easy enough to look around using public transport. I recommend the Viking and Thor Heyerdal museums.

There is a HoHo bus www.redbuses.com/hop-on-hop-off-oslo#about

Alternatively if you want to 'do' all the museums etc. Get an Oslo Pass which will give you free entry, free public transport including the ferries to Bygdøy ( which apparently are no longer part of the Oslo Public Transport network). You get the pass from the Tourist Information office or possibly the kiosk on the dock - but I bet there is a long queue there.

I would not recommend the HoHo buses, it is an expensive and inefficient way to get around. Please read the reviews: tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g190479-d2…

Spending a little bit of time selecting your preferred sights and planning your itinerary using public transport will be cheaper, more time-efficient and well worth your time.
