Norway Fjords

Which one is the better way to visit the fjords region. Taking a 7 days cruise ship or a train/bus/local boats ?

Depends on your own preferences, they are two totally different ways of travelling.

As the first reply says, it depends on your preferred style of travel.

To give you an idea of what kind of local transportation which will be available, have a look at this website

http://www.fjord1.no/en/default.asp?page=538

If you e.g. fly in to Bergen, you will be able to explore at least one of the fjords, like the Sognefjord. http://www.sognefjord.no/en/

Keep in mind that distances are longer than they might look like, and transport options infrequent, so plan accordingly.

Booking transport is usually not neccessary, but accomodtion shuld be booked in advance in peak season, from mid June to mid Aug.

On a cruise everything is planned and programmed, a nice way to experience the fjords. Travelling on your own is of course very different. "Adventure" depends what activities you include.

A friend of the family one toured the Fjords and reported that each fjord was beautiful, but it took hours to drive around one, and it was difficult to stay interested day after day.

I did a cruise on the QE2 - except for the times we were actually going into or out of port and Geiranger, Norway was "that little grey smudge on the horizon" too much cruise, not enough fjord. Check the itinerary.

I did the Hurtigruten round trip. Geiranger is good, but there are many, many more beautiful (south) and dramatic (north) places you'll see on the 12-day round trip

We did a cruise with P and O which went right into the fjords to Olden and Andalsnes. There were beautiful views all around.
