Ferries to Denmark

Hi ,

We will be visiting Bergen and have a car.

On the return, we would like to use the car ferry back to Denmark.

Question is we have the option of driving back or via ferry - still undecided.

Is the ferry reservation booking necessary or we can book it when we are there.

This would be mid-June.

Thank you

If you want to risk being left at the docks due to a full ferry you can wait until just before departure to buy your ticket. Buying at their office will also result in a 125 NOK extra fee.

You can book online until just before departure, but prices will go up as the ferry fills up. Looking at june prices for 2 people and a car varies from €101 to €330.

Depends on day of week and what you mean by mid-June. School ends here June 20th so you can expect that weekend to be pretty busy. If you mean a weekday (not Friday) before that then not much danger of being booked out, but the cheapest cabins may not be available and choice restricted if you wait to last minute. It's a pleasant ferry crossing especially if you are prepared to pay their restaurant prices and a night saved in a hotel, otherwise a long boring drive and a wasted day.
