Inexpensive lunches

about Norway being expensive. Will be looking for inexpensive, even fast food places just for lunch, while out and about. Don't want to spend too much since we will do that at dinner. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Is this request for Bergen town specifically or or other places as well?

There is a Meny supermarked in Bergen Storsenter, the shopping mall by the bus station and train station:

Meny has a nice warm and cold food counter, which I often use myself to create my own lunch or dinner at a reasonable cost and the food is quite good

The official tourist website, which is a great source by the way, has a nice page for budget restaurants in Bergen:

Baker Brun is a good cafe/bakery in different locations in town serving freshly baked goods and lunches: http://goo.gl/maps/Uvvq8

Personally I prefer Godt Brød which is also a bakery/cafe: http://goo.gl/maps/3XsfI

There are convenience stores/kiosks on almost every corner where you can find sandwiches, filled baguettes and soft drinks. Besides, there are supermarkets selling sandwiches and salads. In fine weather, buy some rolls and fillings and have a picnic. Burger King, 2 MacDonalds, Zupperia, Chinese, pizza places. BarBarista is great too for a light snack.

An awesome money saver tips is to drink tap water and not buy bottled water. In cafes/restaurants/convenience stores they often offer you the option for bottled water, ask for tap water instead.

Also don't buy soft drinks from kiosks/convenience stores or gas stations. The price there are 2 times the supermarket price.

Supermarkets are typically:

Rema 1000

Meny

Kiwi

Rimi

Prix
