Time required to visit Birdoswald Fort from Carlisle

Hi there all you helpful people.

On our way south we would like to

take time to go to Birdoswald Fort and

back to Carlisle. Since I don't know the

condition of the road, how long would

the 10 mile drive take.

I ask because we also want to visit

Keswick which is also off the M6

and I want to make sure we have time

to do both pitstops on the same day.

thanks

Stanley, Falkland...

10 miles should only take 20 minutes, but I think its more than 10 miles. The road will be tar.

You dont say where you are starting from (unless its carlisle), but I would think you have time for both, unless you are starting in Inverness.

We are starting in Perth then no stopping until we

get to Carlisle, a brief stop in Birdoswald Fort

the Penriff to Keswick for a visit to Castlerigg Stone circle. The rest of the day will be traveling to Liverpool where we stop and rest up for two nights.

There will be two of us sharing the driving. We hope the traffic in August is not too crazy.
