Deeside Books

We were in Ballater for one night last year doing some family history research. We happened upon Deeside Books and thought we'd see if they had anything that might be relevant. Aren't we glad we did. The proprieter was so very helpful and found several books with useful information for us. There's an awful lot of books in there but he was able to put his hand straight on them. If you're in the area and looking for any sort of books - new or 2nd hand - pop in and see them.

I know the proprietors and staff of this shop and they will be extremely pleased to see your post. They have worked very hard to get to where they are now because of course, all bookshops be they independent or part of chain, have to make determined efforts to compensate for on-line rivals who offer discounts and free postage. Not to mention e-books and the like, which are another problem. We’ve all heard the stories and seen the effect on the high street for ourselves.

Deeside Books are on Facebook too https:/…

A gem of a shop in a gem of a village. There's an eclectic mix of old, rare and new books, a great place to lose yourself in on a rainy day.
