Our favourite is Small Fry on North Street, behind the Casino / near TK Maxx. They fry in vegetable oil so it's not so greasy, and their mushy peas are the best :-) Very traditional, closed on a Saturday/Sunday. You sit in, too.

If you're willing to go out of town, Walkers in East Ayton is a much bigger fish and chip restaurant .. fabulous, and awesome puddings too if you like that.

The chippy on Ramshill is just OK food-wise - no better than any other chippy.

But service-wise? Absolute rubbish. Three people serving and ALL of them ask what you want. Then when you eventually do get to the front of the queue (after about 10 minutes), they ask AGAIN what you want and tell you that they'll have to make some.....WTF????!!!!!! Isn't it supposed to work out that one asks what you want pretty much as soon as you get in and then they have it ready (or have at least started preparing it) when you get to the front of the queue? If they haven't worked that one out there's really no hope. I wonder if you have to have a lobotomy before you start work there?

Although this is my nearest chippy, I would much rather go elsewhere.
