Best Pies & Sausages

Was wondering if there are any "Stand Out" Butchers in the Scarborough area for really great quality Sausages & Pies?

Glaves butchers in Brompton cannot be beaten. Not cheap, but I guess your looking for top drawer. 15mins out of town on the Pickering road.

In town maybe give Gibsons on Ramshill road a try.

Small steak pies are my fave, word of caution though - after about 1.00 there may not be many left! There are often queues out of the door.

I guess this is one of the media articles that explains why people queue to get into Glaves.

I have still not made it out to Brompton to try them for myself on visits to Scarborough. Can you post a review once you have been there Taggy ?

Just to add a bit more balance. Also look out for Seamer Fayre, (Seamer), Hares Leap, (Burniston) Gibsons (Ramshill road), Horsleys (market and Victoria road) Trotters (near Sherburn) Brilliant pie shop in Thornton le dale, but forget the name!

Must admit that I've never has pies from any of the above, but I recently found that the deli in the market does make rather good pies! There's another one to visit!! : )

I've now had chance to try a couple of Pies from Glaves which we got for when we arrived home. Had Small Pork & Small Steak Pie & whilst both were very good indeed i did prefer the small steak ones where were lovely. Also tried a curd tart from there too which was very nice but i've had better.

I didn't buy any Sausages there as i'd already bought a couple of lots to bring back with me, some Pork & Leek from a butchers in Filey which i've popped in the Freezer, and some Pork & Herb from Gibsons in Scarborough, which i've eaten and they were very good indeed, similar to a lincolnshire sausage. Got some cheese from their deli next door too which was very nice also!

PS.......Does anyone know anything about Fairchilds Deli/shop i'd noticed it on our way out advertising a good selection of cheeses, but as i'd already got some didn't bother stopping then. Would they have as good a selection as Gibsons at No25?..If so i'll give them a look next time.
