Luton to Brighton Train

I want to go to Brighton for the day, probably in the weekend.

However,I checked the train times and I would need to change trains in London.

Isn't there a direct way to go ?

Also how much would the ticket cost during the weekend ?

I have a railway card aswell. It said (£13) but does that mean also changing in london?

You don’t specify a date, so there might be Engineering work from time to times but on a ‘normal’ Saturday Thameslink run 2 trains per hour from Bedford to Brighton stopping at Luton, no changes, takes 2 hours, where are you looking, try www.nationalrail.co.uk

There are normally direct trains from Luton to Brighton. If you are being asked to change, that will be because of weekend engineering work on that particular weekend.

If you are being offered a £13 fare, that it what it will be - even with a change of train. Don;t forget that if you are coming back the same day, a day return will be a lot cheaper than two singles.

Hi Faz

just checked the trainline and you do indeed have to change,as wirewiper says probably down to engineering works which are generally done during holidays, with my network card I can get a super off peak day return saturday the 30th for £12.50 which is a bargain!

the changes are a pain but are included in the cost

journey times approx 2 hrs 11mins out and 2 hrs 23 Mins Back

not too much above normal

cheers Tony
