Les Portes du Soleil is very much in Switzerland! So you are on the correct Forum. it is the area that stretches from the border with France (backs onto and includes Avoriaz) to al the area around Champéry, Val d'Illiez, les Crozets etc. The skiing is excellent and extensive. All levels. there are 12 resorts in total that make up this area. The villages in the Val d'Illiez are very nice and Champéry is the nicest of all. All in a great place to ski with a family in tow. here is a link to the Tourist Office site for the area: www.telechampery.com/editorial.php…
the great thing is you can buy a lift pass that will include everywhere (if you are good skiers) OR a local one if you are just starting...
And the region is very accessible from Geneva - take the train to Aigle (2x hr from the airport) and change to the AOMC train for Champèry.
