Visiting @ Christmas

Hi everyone

We are due to visit Bowness and the surrounding areas at Christmas for 1 week.

Although i'm sure the area is in need of tourism i want to know if it's going to be worth us visiting with all the recent flooding. Is everything going to be closed??

Very worried here :(

Hi Cath

We are also up for Christmas and very much looking forward to it! There are lots of sites giving out information which is being updated all the time including Cumbria Tourist Board and BBC Cumbria

Most things are open normally in the Lake; the worst hit are the lakside hotels but in the villages nearly all shops pubs and restaurants will be open as normal. One thing with water here is it drains off very quickly and most of the excess is gone already.
