Baggage rules + charges on Aer Lingus/Aer Arann to IOM

They give you no info about it until you are checking in, but they will not let you carry on the normal, standard carry-on suitcases that you can carry onto all normal Boeing aircraft (the regulation size that the flight attendants pull around).

You can only carry on kid-sized luggage. Your eight year-old's pink "hello kitty" suitcase will probably pass.

For the regulation-sized "carry-on" luggage, they will charge 50 euros each, each way.

Yes, theses are smaller, two-prop planes, but the point is that they should let people know about these restrictions BEFORE they buy the tickets.

And the flight attendants are impatient to the point of being rude.

Apparently, there is too little competition in this particular route.

"flight numbers 3000-4000 operated by Aer Arann

One piece of carry-on baggage, may not exceed limit of 7kg (15lb)

Carry-on baggage must be within the size dimensions of 48cm H (18.5") x 33cm W (13") x 20cm D (8")"

Took me a couple of minutes to find, but is that what you mean? (from aerlingus' site).

Were there any overhead lockers in which to squeeze your standard carryon bags? In most small planes I've been in there are no overhead lockers, and bags have to sit on your lap, or go in the "hold"......

My point is that it should be in bold, red, flashing, capital letters on the ticket-booking website:

"Don't think that we will let you carry on your 'carry-on' luggage on Aer Lingus/Air Anann flights to IOM. Figure in that extra 100 euros as you decide whether to take the plane or the ferry"

But apparently they have decided that they can generate more revenue by surprising people with this information at the check-in counter.

You didnt read the terms and conditions.

You got caught out.

So? Grow up.

"It's not my fault" ceases to be an excuse once you're over 7.
