new restaurants in tenby?

Hi all

We have been to Tenby many times over the last 20 years or so and more recently the quality of some of the restaurants has not been great. We still love Tenby though, so have booked another weekend in August.

Last time we went was around March 2011

Are there any new, decent restaurants now opened?

I do not recognise Elliots. Is that new?

What are your personal favourites for an evening meal?

The Heywood Mount Hotel Dining Room is open to non residents (bookable in advance). Take a look at their menu

I was there last week and the food was excellent.

Elliots used to be the Reef on St Julian Street. Others that have changed owners in the last couple of years (probably before your last visit), Nanas at the bottom of St Julian St is now the Ocean. The Mews has the same name but is now very meat orientated. Coast bistro is the new name for the cafe on the high street near Morris Brothers, the old name escapes me for the moment but it was a tearoom.

I think that's it for new ones. On the rare occasion we eat out we either go to the Fourcroft restaurant, the Greek one or the Plantagenet. The last of those can be inconsistent. The rest we find are neither good value or particularly good.

Thanks for your replies. Heywood Mount looks a good option so will look at that one, the menu looks great. We have just had a coffee at Cafe Vista before, so will try that one for some food.

Thanks again

Yes Caffe Vista is excellent but it's not really a restaurant. They do 'light meals' but well worth a visit

Just got back from Tenby and food wise what a disapointment. The best food we had by far was the breakfast in the Hotel( we stayed at the Panorama).Other than pub food in the afternoons, the Bucaneer and the Hope and Anchor, both just ok, we tried Heywood Mount, based on Pam's recommendation, and it was just ok, nothing special, but the service was good, and then the Baytree in tenby, based on the advise of our lady in the hotel. This too was just mediocre at best. Thanks for your recommendations anyway though.

Hi

Somewhat late with a reply but hopefully this will add another option to visitors to Tenby. When we visit we usually try to stop off at Saint Teresa's Restaurant at the old convent http://www.saintteresas.co.uk/ It's one of the top rated restaurants in Tenby on trip advisor and we have always found the food to be really nice as produce islocal and freshly made
