Self catering in Tenby

I will be staying in a Listed Property in Tenby called the Annexe which is on St Marys hill.I understand that people in the past have had a great time staying there, Has anyone got any recommendations of things to do or see in the area. e.g., walking, cycling routes, ?

Hi,

Tudor Merchant's House, Quay Hill, Tenby is worth visiting (National Trust Property) see the reviews here on Trip Advisor. You can spend about 2hrs there playing with the 'hands on' exhibits you are actually allowed to touch.

Colby Woodand Garden (National Trust), Amroth - reviews here on TA. Great if you like walking in woodlands. You can follow the path into Amroth.

Walk to Coast Path from Tenby to Saundersfoot, some great views along the way whilst looking back on to Tenby. Some steep ups and then downs to negotiate along the way. Normally takes me about 2hrs.15 mins whist stopping to admire the views etc., If you don't want to walk back to Tenby check out the bus timetable.

Enjoy!

If you are passing and the National Park Centre, Tenby is open, worth calling in, it houses a free exhibition. Lots of info on the area.

Also, they have on sale at a very modest prices various leaflets for walks etc.,

Thanks for these suggestions, the walk back into Tenby along the coast sounds ideal. Could you recommend any cosy traditional little pubs in Tenby or the surrounding area?

Thanks.

There are plenty of good walks, either based on the coastal path in either direction as Pam says, also shorter ones along the beach. The National Park centre has information also the Tourist information centre by Sainsburys.

It's not a good area for cycling unless you enjoy hills, the roads are narrow and busy. There is a cycle route signposted through town.

The bar at the Plantagenet restaurant is cosy but not really a pub. Otherwise the pubs in Tenby generally cater for people who want to want sport on tv and they have bouncers on the door. The Coach and Horses in Frog Street is more welcoming.

"The Quay Rooms" which is the bar underneath the Plantagenet restaurant is cosy and quirky. The Crown on Lower Frog Street is worth a visit - not cosy as such, but more locals go there and they often have live music on a Saturday night. Also check out Caffe Vista coffee shop, as they sometimes have live music in the evenings, and have stunning views over the bay.

Walks - if you drive to Stackpole there is the National Trust place and you can walk over the cliffs to some of the bays and beaches. Much further inland you have Llyn-y-fran reservoir which you can walk around, or the Gwaun Valley is worth a visit, near Fishguard. There are also plenty of boat trips in the area, if you fancy that.
