Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Children

I've read three different and conflicting posts about the Grand Mosque and whether children under 10 are allowed to enter. Could someone give me a definitive answer? I have a 5 yr old, he's been inside the Vatican and we can keep him under control not to run around etc.

Many thanks in advance

We went in November with a 7yo who was very quit at the time and it was no problem. The notice board at the entrance of the grand hall does mention 10 yo as minimum age, but probably depends a lot on behaviour of the child. Your child can always enter the rest of the premises and see the other buildings and wait outside when you do your round in the grand hall if it turns out to be a problem. You can walk around the grand hall in less than 5 minutes.
