In Agrigentonstay in the old town or by the water?

We have one night at the end of June when it will be quite hot so wonder if staying by the water would be better than in the old town? Most of the B&B 's are in the old townc We have a car for visiting the Valley.... Any hotel/B&B suggestions ? Grazie

It's best to avoid the historic centre with a car because there's a ZTL, but San Leone's beach is nothing special. Why not stay nearer the Valley of the Temples and enjoy views of the temples illuminated at night?

Prego e grazie BrisbaneFrannie!

Terrazza Di Montelusa is a lovely B&B in Agrigento’s historic centre with terrace and views of the temples – Secure explicit and detailed directions from Francesco to be sure you avoid the ZTL, and request assistance on parking on arrival.

Enjoy!

Vagabonda........ we are staying only one night in Agrigento and I saw your recommendation for Camera con Vista. It looks wonderful and obviously very accessible for visiting the Temples. My only concern is I would like to visit the old town of Agrigento. I will have a car, but it sounds like parking will be a problem. Should I consider staying in the old town where I can get parking and then drive to the Temples?

It would be more convenient to stay near the Valley of the Temples with a car, and take the local bus to the historic centre, but you might also drive to the train station and park there, but really avoid via Atenea.

Thanks Vagabonda. Decided to go with Camera con Vista to stay near the Temples as you suggested. We will be driving from Agrigento to Pizza Armerina to stay one night there. Any suggestions on where to stay in Pizza Armerina? Our primary plan is to see the Villa del Casale there. How much time would you guess would be required to visit the Villa?

Prego Scott8147,

Consider La Casa Sulla Collina D'oro in Piazza Armerina – La Casa Sulla Collina D'oro is a delightful B&B (terrace with fantastic views of Piazza Armerina, copious and delicious breakfast at a long communal table) convenient for drivers with easy parking, and the owner is a licenced guide – Tours depart directly from the B&B for the Villa Romana del Casale.
