train from Sinalunga to Florence

A group of eight is traveling to Florence for a day from a villa near Sinalunga. We will have rental cars to get us to a train station, but wonder which town and station to go to (one where there is parking) and which Florence train station is best located for first-timers seeing the major sights. Staying overnight is an option, but the primary focus of our two-week trip is Tuscan countryside. Thanks in advance for answers to these, and the questions I didn't think to ask.

Parking in Siena is an expensive pain, and Poggibonsi is some distance from Sinalunga.

I think you might do better to drive to Cortona-Camucia station and take a train from there. The station you want in Florence is Firenze Santa Maria Novella.

Note that the train station in Sinalunga itself cannot be found on Trenitalia's websites, as it is not served by Trenitalia but by Tuscany's own regional railway company.

The timetable from Sinalunga to Arezzo is here trasportoferroviariotoscano.it/ar-sinalunga.… and to reach Florence by this route, you must change trains in Arezzo.

Arezzo has more frequent trains to Florence than the suggestions made earlier in this thread. You could also drive there rather than taking the train from Sinalunga.

Is it all that difficult to just post your options, without reference to other posters contributions.

Not even on you, Nuri. You seem to be getting very touchy about being corrected!

Actually Sinalunga can be found on the Trenitalia website; the station is also on the line Siena-Chiusi served by Trenitalia.

Anyway, to go to Florence the best way is taking the train of the regional company to Arezzo, whose tickets are not purchasable on the Trenitalia website.

Thanks, everyone- will follow up on your suggestions. Thinking maybe drive to Arezzo, then train to Santa Maria Novella station.

Aristofane - thanks for the useful correction, which said what I should have said.
