Leaving Bardolino - public transport a problem with luggage?

Hello,

Next May we plan to stay 4 nights at Lake Garda staying at Bardolino without the use of a rental car.

After Bardolino we would like to use public transport to get to Venice where we plan to stay for 2 nights.

Will it be a problem with luggage on bus or train from Bardolino?

And I would like advice on the easiest way to get to Venice by public transport please?

Thanking you.

Unless you're bringin a LOT of luggage there won't be a problem. Just remember that you have to carry it and get it aboard the train. On a bus the luggage will go in the compartment in the belly of the bus.

Boarding the train means getting the luggage up about 3 steep steps and then getting it stowed in the storage rack, in the overheads, or behind your seat.

To get to Venice from Bardolino by public transport you would first take the bus from Bardolino to Peschiera station at the south of the lake. This is the current timetable to give you an idea of frequency and times:

…verona.it/atv_www/orari_extraurb/pdf/162.pdf

From Peschiera you would take a train to Venice. You can check journey times, prices etc. on www.trenitalia.com (use a date in the next week or two).

Alternatively you can stay on the bus as far as Verona then change to the train - from Verona there will be more trains to choose from. You will need to use the correct station names which are Peschiera del Garda, Verona Porta Nuova and Venezia S Lucia.

Or travel by taxi to Peschiera. From Bardolino it will cost in the region of €28.

Your hotel in Bardolino may offer a transfer service to Peschiera - it is always worth asking.

Thank you both for the above information. It is just what I needed! We will only have 1 case each and 1 day backpack, so seems like it won't be a problem.

Thank you also for the hint re accommodation maybe offering a transfer service

Great advice from TA's as always!
