Is it correct that the local bus no longer goes direct to Riva, do you have to change bus's at Garda?
Hi, yes unfortunately it is true, as from early June this year. There are only two buses that travel further north than Garda, 183 between Peschiera del Garda and Malcesine, and 184 between Garda and Riva del Garda.
There are however 4 bus services between Verona and Garda, one via the airport.
Hi Tepore, thank you, looks like a walk to Garda then to catch the bus to Torbole, then we want to walk into Riva along promenade.
Were also thinking of catching the train one day to either go to Padova or Milan from Peschiera, can we just turn up and buy tickets on the day, we have not used the train before from Lake Garda.
Hi, we don't use public transport at the lake as we always have a hire car, but as far as I am aware you can do either. You can't pre-book the cheaper but slower Regionale trains but you can book the inter-city faster trains. If you do book in advance though you have to travel on that particular train so things are less flexible.
Thank you. If we decide to use the train we will just turn up, don't like being to a timetable as such. We always use local transport, would not hire a car, was in Sorrento last year, I think the local garage owners will be millionaires by the sight of all the bumps to cars etc.
This is our 6th trip to Bardolino, we just love it, and only booked on Wednesday, we go later in the month.
