What a holiday, myself, husband and two kids 3 & 11 had a fabulous time - the site itself is brillant and although its one of the biggest sites it never felt crowded at any time at the restuarants, lake or pools. The shops and surpermarket on site had everything you wanted and reasonably priced even competitive with home which was a surprise for a holiday resort.
The views of the lake and surrounding scenery where just breathtaking and a 10 min stroll along the lake took you into Perschiera were their was some lovely resturants along the way (reasonably priced) and also in the town. From here you could also get the ferry to the rest of the lake - we took it to Sirmone which was beautiful and the kids enjoyed the fortress - on the way back we had a scenic route which passed Garda, Bordline, Liaze which also looked wonderul although we didnt get off to visit the towns as it was so hot - we just wanted to get back and hit the lake.
The resturants on site were also very reasonable and the staff both friendly and courteous especially with the children.
The kids loved the pool and the lake as did the adults - the temps were anywhere from 38 degress up - hot ! hot ! hot !
Our accomodation was booked with Canvas which was spotless and meet our needs and had airconditioning thankfully which was a godsend - the kids meet loads of friends which was great and we even meet some of the parents which was nice our cul de sac was like a wee community were everyone spoke to each other and asked about each others day without living in each other pocket - we also passed various tips to each other which was useful . It was all totally laid back and we all really enjoyed the facilities on site (parks etc) with the oldest loving the icecream parlour. The site is definatley family orienated which we found brillant as was the rest of the lake or so we thought.
We even went to Gardaland for a day which was unbelievable we got the free shuttle bus from outside the campsite around 10am and returned around 11.30 that night - a magnificent day out - adults loved it as much as the kids - and it was great that their was some indoor shows i.e. ice shows, dolphin shows on which meant we could escape the heat for a while but enjoy a show at the same time.
The entrance fee was €35 each with children under 1metre getting in free or €39 which included entrance into the Sealife Aquarim also (which was normally €15 on its own) - and their was plenty of rides for the youngest kid also. We also paid an additional €8 for the express ticket which can be purchased in the Western district - and well worth it - no queues - magnificent. Gardaland caters for everything and everybody would definatley recommend it. Worth checking with site if they are selling tickets as a few days after we had been we seen poster displaying tickets for sale from reception for €31.50 well worth checking out. Cant wait to go back.
If you can also take in the Fireworks on the lake every second wednesday night its an amazing site well worth getting down early about 10pm to get a good spot they begin at 10.15-10.30ish.
I could go on and on - its just a brillant site and we had the best holiday ever - the first time we regretted having to go home could have stayed on - we've even began pricing for next year.
