Hi 13_jane,

The Hilton Giardini Naxos is located in Recanati, not Naxos. The village of Recanati is the next bay south from Giardini and around the cape.

Recanati is about a 15-minute walk to the city centre in Naxos, but there’s a bus in front of the hotel for the city centre. The bus for Taormina and the train station is a bit further from the hotel.

Recanati has newer construction with lots of hotels, restaurants and discos and it's very, very touristy. Recanati is basically a tourist ghetto with package-tour hotels or blocks of apartments. The beach is long, but not the nicest.

Do you mean the boutique Hotel Imperiale in Taormina?

The Hilton Giardini Naxos is the former Russott Hotel.

Ciao 13_jane,

First decide on your preferred location – A hotel in a beach resort like Giardini, or a hotel in a mediaeval hill town like Taormina.

The Hotel Imperiale is a boutique 5* hotel, so a very good option.

Its soo hard to chose!!

There's so many nice places!

We want to be near nice restaurants, within walking distance! We will have a hire car to go out and about, but dont really want to be using that in the evening as we want to sample the wines!!

Are there any quieter beaches within say a 30 mins drive of Taormina?

Thanks for your help by the way!!

Ciao 13_jane,

It’s very easy to get to many nice beaches from Taormina. Park your car and take the convenient public transport - Bus, hotel shuttle, funivia….

You can easily walk to many nice restaurants in Taormina and the Hotel Imperiale is wonderful – This is not a hard decision!!!
