Transport between lake villages

We are visiting Lake Iseo in late September for a week (staying in Sarnico). We shall be reliant on public transport. There appears to be a limited boat service from Sarnico from early September so we are wondering if there is a bus service to visit other places on the lake. I know the bus from Bergamo stops at Sarnico and carries on to Tavernola but is there a service the other direction to Iseo Town? From there we could catch the train to visit the east side of the lake and there also appears to be a more frequent boat service from Iseo in the winter months. Any advice to help us explore the lake appreciated.

For the E shore: http://www.trasportibrescia.it/oraristampabili.asp?idcomune=&invia=Cerca+la+linea

Also, the regional timetables can be of help (also ferry services are covered there): muoversi.regione.lombardia.it/planner/home.do

From Sarnico, you can surely use the boat service to visit the lake:

Along the eastern side of the lake there is a very useful railway (local stops, from south to north: Iseo, Pilzone, Sulzano, Sale Marasino, Marone, Vello, Pisogne), here you can find the timetables:

All the town I wrote above do have their own port.

I live in this area, and I can assure you there are plenty of thing to see and do, just ask me, if you need any advice!

Have a nice stay!

Thanks for your reply. We are looking forward to using the railway to visit some of the villages on the eastern side of the lake. For a small lake there is so much to see. Top of our list is Monte Isola. We are hoping the weather will be kind to us so late in the season!

We are travelling ( 1 adult , 1 child age 10) to Iseo next week- We arrive at Bergamno Airport at 16:00 on a Weds - is there a direct train or bus to Iseo Town or is Brescia or Bergamo City the best option for buses and trains? Any help appreciated as taxi transfers are expensive - Thank you

#5 - Check out muoversi.regione.lombardia.it/planner/home.do (enter 'Aeroporto Bergamo Orio al serio' as departure point)

Trains or buses leaving for the eastern shore of lake Iseo depart from Brescia. As soon as you get in Bergamo airport you can use the shuttle bus to Brescia (faster option), but you can also reach Bergamo train station, and then take the train to Brescia.

Probably too late to help 'Glamourforall', but the cheapest and quickest way to Iseo Town on public transport is to get a bus from the airport to Bergamo train station, walk over to the bus station opposite and get the bus to Sarnico.

Once at Sarnico, walk down the hill towards the lake (approx 300 yards) and once at the lake front you will see a bus stop on the right. from here you can catch a bus to Iseo Town which run on a regular basis (bus is scheduled to give about a 10 minute gap between the two, or certainly was last year).

Alternatively, you will also see the boat stop to the left from here which will also take you to Iseo Town, although more expensive.
