last minute help needed please ...............

Hi

Only got 2 1/2 days in Venice, will be staying at the Elite Hotel Residence, can anyone give me any ideas for an itinerary so i make the most of my time there, and some fair prices restaurants to eat in the evening, we don't want 5* gold knives and folks hehe, but nice sensible priced food

Also could someone advise of the easiest way to get from marco polo airport to the hotel

Thanks

Ann

Buses from Marco Polo Airport to Mestre

At the Marco Polo airport there is an ATVO bus (€6) that will take you to the Mestre train station in 17 minutes. (Venice Marco Polo Airport-Mestre—Fly Bus-Express Service (€11 round-trip).

“Al Vaporetto” (3726 Calle della Mandola, San Marco) is a reasonably priced restaurant that gets very good reviews. Click on Menu, then the Download PDF Menu, to see dining choices and prices.

Another possibility is Rosticceria Gislon (Calle de la Bissa 5424 | Campo San Bartolomeo):

Bacareto da Lele (Campo dei Tolentini 183 - Santa Croce):

There are no tables, so you will need to stand while enjoying your wine and delicious sandwiches. Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

You do NOT want to go to the Mestre train station, as that would require an additional bus ride of at least another 10-15 minutes with frequency of only twice an hour. Your best bet is the n°15 bus which stops very close to your hotel directly in Via Forte Marghera. The only downsides are that it too has twice an hour frequency, and that it does not have luggage accommodation, but then again the bus from the train station back to the hotel has these same problems as well.

Also keep in mind that Da Lele is not someplace for an evening meal, it is just for a quick snack. Rosticceria Gislon does have seating and it is possible to have a "regular" meal, but as a rosticceria it is also more geared to "Italian style" fast food rather than what most Italians or Venetians would consider any sort of restaurant meal.

Since you are staying on the mainland in Mestre, it is difficult to suggest someplace for a meal that might be far from where you will be visiting. A couple random locations at opposite ends of the city: Da Marisa and Taverna San Trovaso, or Da Mario alla Fava or Antico Calice near Rialto.
