Hy Bonny Z , I live here in Salerno. I suggest you to rent a car because there are no trains. Yes it 's douable in a day and you can visit a mozzarella farm, a wine farm, Templi of Paestum. Cilento is very very nice. If you need more help about , I will be happy to help you . Bye, Alex.

As said, you must start in Naples or Salerno. This thread is from 2011, however the directions are the same (the price has increased slightly).

We did Paestum from Sorrento which is much further away so it was most efficient to book a guided tour.
