Where to stay in Costa Smeralda.

Hi everyone,

We will be 2 girls travelling to Costa Smeralda in the second week of August. First time in Sardinia so I'd appreciate any input on where to stay, eat and have quality time. I'd love to visit the inside places of the area. We'd like to have fun at the best bars or restaurants.

Thanks in advance

Sofia

Sofaki,

For what you are looking for i suggest you stay somewhere around San Teodoro, its about 30 min from Olbia Airport and there are a lot of great beaches and bars/night clubs around there.

Its a good base to go the Costa Smeralda and Porto Cervo area. The best thing would be to rent a car so you can explore the different parts of the North Eastern Coast. Thats what my wife and I are doing. Make sure you get to La Pelosa Beach in Stintinto(Sxeto Oneiro!!!!!)

Were actually staying in Murta Maria about 10 min outside of Olbia and not too far from San Teoodoro. Were a young couple 34 and 30, so we too were looking for the night life and also beautiful beaches, after a lot of research we found this area the best place for us and our budget.

Thats my opinion, there are a 2 people Dancingbrave and Beach Specialists who know a lot about Sardinia, I am sure they will have more info to offer you. They helped me out.

Kala na perasete stin Omorfi Sardania.(for non greeks i just said to have a good time in Beautiful Sardinia) :)

For the second week of August it will be one the busiest weeks for holidays here in Italy, 15 August is Ferragosto public holiday and also the day that some return from 15 day holidays and others start (as most in Italy take the holidays August). The prices are very high in August, self-catering can be 1,600 euro a week for example so it would depend on what type of accommodation you would look for, ideal budget of what to spend accommodation that week, & if you will have the car to travel around. There are B&B, camping, hotels, apartment, as examples and of course the different prices. San Teodoro is one good option that by night will have many activities for you both and by day travel to the north east coast, but the roads will be busy & you may prefer to stay closer as the drive to beginning of Costa Smeralda is 40 min (little traffic). You could stay closer or up in Costa Smeralda but of course the budget does depend on this but option like Portisco and Golfo di Marinella/Punta Marana more affordable that Porto Rotondo/Porto Cervo..and close drive to the respective towns. So let us know what you want to spend ideally, how far you would like to be, if you have the car and can make suggestion to try help...ciao

Thanks a lot for both posts. I actually booked a room in hotel dolce vita which must be very close to Porto cervo (or at least i hope). The only thing that now troubles me is the flight because I only found seats to get to Cagliari. Anyway, thanks a lot, ,efharisto and have fun during summer!

I was covering a story about the American artist and muralist Moira Love who chose Costa Smeralda to paint seascapes and landscapes of the hills covered in the fragrant macchia. Hotel Cala Di Volpe is tucked into a turquoise bay with its own private beach. The dining rooms served nothing but the finest Sardinian specialties and the service was 5 star the entire week I stayed. There is an air of sophistication and grand style around Costa Smeralda. If you prefer more privacy, quaint villas and the rock hewn swimming pool which sits adjacnt to the sea, then check into Hotel Pitrizza. Up the road is Hotel Romanzzino which is perched on a hillside and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. The view is breathtaking. Lastly, if you crave the shopping and pedestrian mall along the coastal village of Porto Cervo, then Cervo Hotel will fulfill your wishes. Pervero Golf course is located in the center of the Porto Cero region and no more than 5 minutes from all four hotels. All choices are featured at www.costa2008.com with booking options.

take a look at Booking.com or venere.com for hotels and b&bs you can search for best location and prices. If you do not find anything there are a few Agriturismos located a short drive from Porto Cervo most also do bed and breakfast.
