Better base while in Campania Region - Positano or Sorrento

We will be visiting the region in mid June and already have a quadruple suite at the Antiche Mura in Sorrento. However, I am now exploring the possibility of staying in a villa or apartment in Positano. We are already visiting Pompeii on our way from Naples to Sorrento (or Positano if we decide to change) - so if our plans for the rest of our stay consists of a day trip to Capri and a full day private tour of the Amalfi Coast and a free day to explore - which town is the best to stay in.

We prefer a smaller, more quaint town and I really like the idea of having a view of the sea which I do not believe we have at the Antiche Mura.

I would appreciate your comments and suggestions

Of the two, Positano is the smaller, more quaint town with sea views from the majority of the properties. So - you may well prefer Positano. Availability may be an issue at this point, though.

I assume you will be there about 4 nights? Capri would be easily reached, not to mention the other Amalfi Coast towns. It seems a shame to spend only one of your days in Positano but you would also have your evenings to relax there..
